Remembering Christian Conduct
All nations, provinces, countries, towns, cities, and territories have laws that govern them. They set laws as standards of conduct. They are in place to prohibit citizens from engaging in unlawful acts. The same is true in the Kingdom of God.
God has a standard of living that we, as believers, must live by. However, we must remember that our good works and acts must be a product of Christ’s character being formed in us. Because of their bad character traits, Christ condemned the Pharisees’ good works. Our good works will also be nothing, if the nature of Christ is not in us. In today’s post, we want to remember to have conduct fitting that of a Christian.
There are three things that we must do to maintain proper Christian Conduct:
1) Deny the Flesh - We have debated for years about what Christians can and cannot do. The answer is simple. If your actions do not edify you or add to your spiritual life, you may want to abstain from them. This may range from watching certain television programs to being involved in particular conversations. (I Corinthians 10:23)
2) Walk in the Spirit - If we live in the Spirit, we will be consumed with the desire for spiritual things. The more His presence is in our lives, the more we will desire it. (Galatians 6:7-8)
3) Obey the Word -Christians, sometimes, are accustomed to reading the Bible and hearing sermons, but many do not apply the information that is learned. Even if we are not mature, the Word of God is given to govern our actions as we move toward being perfect in Him. (James 1:22-24)
Though we are made righteous by faith in Jesus Christ, we are expected to be demonstrators of it in our everyday lives. Remember Christian Conduct.
