Lessons from Daniel

The Bible serves as a guide to the Christian faith. Both the Old and the New Testaments are full of stories, exhortations, and lessons that all can learn from and apply to their daily lives. Many have trouble with reading and comprehension of the Old Testament. However, the Old Testament provides insight even for today’s Christian. We can learn from the examples of those prophets, priests, and patriarchs. Their experience should inspire hope today.

One notable Old Testament figure is Daniel. Even in the midst of a nation that regarded not his God, Daniel remained faithful. I would like to encourage all to take a few days and read about him. To help you in your study, I have highlighted a few lessons found in his life which are applicable to the Christian today.

1. Remember that God’s willingness to speak to you and reveal secret things - by the Holy Spirit. (Daniel 2: 19)

2. Remember to honor Christ in all that you do. Be grateful for His presence and power in your life with thanksgiving. (Daniel 2: 20-23)

3. Remember to make a difference between righteous and unrighteous, Christ being the center - (Daniel 2: 27)

4. Remember to point man’s attention to the Lord, who is God in Heaven (Daniel 2: 28-30)

5. Remember to only say what I say and reveal what I reveal. Let your speech agree with the scriptures. (Daniel 2: 31-45)

6. Remember your brothers and sisters in the Lord, as God blesses and exalts you, make ways for others; yet, remain humble. (Daniel 2: 49)

7. Remember to seek Christ daily for wisdom and revelation. (Daniel 1: 17)

8. Never be afraid to stand and do what is right before the Lord. (Daniel 6: 10)

9.Your belief in God has to be unwavering regardless of the situation. - Avoid the deception of doubt. (Daniel 6: 23)
