Delayed, but Not Denied!

Life comes with many ups and downs. Just when it seems as if things are getting better, they can suddenly take a change for the worse. Sometimes these events can have devastating effects on an individual. Even as Christians, it can seem as if we face more problems and obstacles than others. This can leave many frustrated; even standing in doubt of God’s power, presence, and promises.

I can only imagine this is how Joseph felt. After having dreams of greatness, his life took a sudden turn for the worse. For thirteen years, he suffered many setbacks and delays in his personal life. However, from his story, we see God’s continual favor and goodness. In the end, God fulfilled His promises to Him. Though many things in your life may seem delayed, remember that they are not denied. The Lord will bless you and bring you through.

The Worthy Christian (Part II)

The sentiment of every Christian should  be, “I want to be a Worthy Christian.” Contrary to some teachings within the Church, Christians can live honestly, soberly, and holy in this present life. In previous posts, we discussed signs of a worthless Christian and we are now turning our attention to becoming a worthy Christian. In the posts to follow, we will discuss certain traits that one must possess to be a Worthy Christian. Let us examine the second.

The Worthy Christian is FAITHFUL

The Worthy Christian is the individual who is exhibits the most foundational components of the Christian life. The word ‘faithful’ seems to lose meaning in the Church. We use it and throw it around so frequently, but many fail to demonstrate faithfulness.

It is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.(1 Corinthians 4:2)

The Worthy Christian is faithful which gives him an anchor through every cirucmstance and situation. There are three areas where the Worthy Christian has to be faithful.

1) Faithful to God. The Worthy Christian is faithful in their relationship with God. This type of faithfulness has nothing to do with a calling or ministry, but their personal commitment to Him. They will not place anything or anyone before the Lord. He is first in all things. The Worthy Christian will be faithful to God through holy living and service. They will not waiver from the truth of His word nor dishonor His name through ungodly character.

2) Faithful to the Church. The Worthy Christian is faithful, not to the organizational Church, but to the Church of Jesus Christ, which is His Body. More plainly, the Worthy Christian is a faithful brother or sister to other members of the Body of Christ. The Worthy Christian will encourage, strengthen, rebuke, protect, and pray for others for their furtherance in their relationships with the Lord.

The Worthy Christian is faithful even to those who may offend, misunderstand, or mistrust them, knowing that whatever he does to any member of the Body of Christ, he is performing the same on Christ.

3) Faithful to Christian Service. The Worthy Christian is faithful to whatever task God has called him to. He will make sure that he performs God’s will and not his own. He will risk rejection and ridicule to please his Savior.

The Worthy Christian is faithful unto death, knowing he will receive a crown of life.
